Not so elderly
I READ the interesting article (Snake Season Advice, JT, Jan 16) and hope that the “elderly” lady in her 60s is feeling much better. I will continue keeping an eye out for these creatures when I am tending to my acreage garden as long as my “very elderly” 70-year-old legs will hold me up.
Hey, Jacob Wilson, don't you know that 60 is the new 40?

Mount Lindesay funding
YOU have got to see it from both sides. I have driven this road for many years. The road is dangerous. Most accidents are bad driving but the highway could be better.

THE state should not have started on the two megacities of Yarrabilba and Flagstone until after they upgraded the infrastructure.

Shorten visits hospital
HOW about returning Beauy Hospital to full service?
- R. Howett, via Facebook
HEALTH and the management of Logan Hospital is absolutely a state government issue. Nothing whatsoever to do with Bill (Shorten). He would give the money to the Queensland government who will spend it where they want. Even if the money gets to Queensland Health it will get spent where they want. Even if the money gets to Metro South who run Logan, Princess Alexandra will keep it. Yet another clueless political promise from an amateur.

IF he wins...but will he keep that promise...don’t think so and we need something done sooner not later…

ISN’T this what the LNP and Logan City Council asked for? They must be very pleased to have been heard. ScoMo could do it tomorrow and render this vote winner irrelevant. Let’s see.

RSPCA adoptions
I APPLAUD what these dedicated people are doing to help abandoned and mistreated animals (JT, Jan 23), however, the comment by Mr Wright astounded me: “Mr Wright said there were no nasty surprises when adopting an RSPCA pet. The best thing is knowing where the animals come from. Knowing they came through the RSPCA is better than going through a breeder because with breeders you can’t be assured they are microchipped.”
Does he not know that by law all dogs and cats must be microchipped? I understand that when a pet comes from the RSPCA it has been vet checked, however getting a puppy or kitten from a registered breeder means that they have had all the necessary genetic breed tests, DNA tested for parentage (in dogs), and have been reared with love and as in my dogs, I have owned at least the past five generations and I definitely know where my puppies come from. This comment is detrimental to dedicated breeders who belong to Dogs Queensland who look after their babies and breeding stock and abide by the Code of Ethics of DQ. We are not backyard breeders, but registered breeders of pure bred dogs.
