THE Kingston Butter Factory Arts and Craft Centre and Historical Museum will re-open their doors from a new location on Monday, January 21.
Arts and Craft Centre owner Kathy Windsor operated from the Kingston Butter Factory on Milky Way for more than 30 years.
The popular tourist attraction was required to relocate to 26 Wilbur Street, next to Logan Central Library to make way for a $6 million Innovation Business Hub at the Butter Factory.
Ms Windsor said the Arts and Craft Centre would remain near the Library for 12 to 18 months before returning to Caretakers Cottage near the Butter Factory.
“It is a big adjustment, we thought we would be settled forever,” Ms Windsor said.
“What I want people to know is we have moved. A lot of people are panicking and have asked if we have closed. No, we are open.”
The Arts and Crafts Centre features a range of locally made products which are popular with tourists.
The historical museum is home to a classic 1953 FX Holden which has proved to be a draw card for motoring enthusiasts.
Ms Windsor said she had stuck by the Arts and Crafts Centre since day one 30 years and 10 months ago because it was her passion.
“It is such a joy,” she said.
“You meet people from all over the world. This is such a multicultural city and we have visitors who come from overseas to buy a souvenir and see the museum.
“It is the best of both worlds.”
She said people were still welcome to buy a tea or coffee and a biscuit from the new venue.
The Kingston Butter Factory Arts and Crafts Centre and Historical Museum will be open Monday to Saturday from 9am to 3pm and will be closed on Sundays.
