BAMS Theatre Inc is searching for fresh talent to feature in an original 1938 radio play script for the first show of 2019 at Beaudesert.
The “infamous” War of the Worlds show was based on the novel from H.G. Wells, performed by Orson Welles as part of a Mercury Theatre series.
Show director Clare Patrick said the search was on for a mixed male and female cast to test their skills during an audition at the Centre, Beaudesert on Saturday, January 12 from 10am.

“Cast members will play a variety of roles, including that of Foley Artists, creating amazing sound effects that form part of the performance,” she said.
“For the role of Orson Welles, who will also undertake a number of other characters in the play, we are looking for a male between the ages of 20 and 30.
“The ability to perform with an American accent is essential. You will also be required to develop different character voices as you will play multiple roles.”
The War of the Worlds production was set on Sunday, October 30, 1938 in New York when the once low profile Welles made history.
In an attempt to attract a larger audience, Welles adapted the original War of the Worlds story line to depict an alien invasion of earth.
Welles’s script writer created a narrative to convince the public it was a current event with lie news reports and interviews with experts.
The show prompted an immediate reaction with many listeners tuned in convinced the radio announcement was real.
Anyone interested in the audition who is unable to attend on January 12 can call Ms Patrick on 0404 707 786 or e-mail cpmine@iinet.net.au.
BAMS Theatre Inc showcased a range of impressive shows in 2018, including a Little Mermaid production featuring 32 children and adult performers in October.
