A Spring Creek man, 18, has been charged with the attempted murder of a police constable who was struck by a car while investigating a complaint of hooning at Yarrabilba.
The man was also charged with dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, disqualified driving and other traffic charges.
He will appear in the Southport Magistrates Court on December 24.
Constable Ben Condon, 37, was treated at Logan Hospital for a minor leg injury after he was struck by a car police tried to intercept at Yarrabilba Drive, Yarrabilba, on Saturday at 2.40am.
Constable Condon is the son of one of Queensland’s top cops. His father is assistant commissioner Mick Condon.
Constable Condon got out of his car to direct and speak to the driver, who police will allege failed to stop, striking the constable on the leg. As a result, the constable fired his service gun.
Police will allege the car, tracked by a police chopper, was found nearby. Police used road stingers. The car failed to stop, crashing into a police car.
Ethical Standards Command will investigate.
Police are still searching for a second man who fled on foot.
In October, Constable Peter McAulay was lucky to escape with his life after being run over by teens at Ipswich. Two people were charged with attempted murder.
