ABOUT 500 of Logan’s best and brightest were in the room for the City of Logan Christmas Party at Logan Metro Sports Centre, Browns Plains.
Acting mayor Cherie Dalley talked about the year that was. She chronicled wins for the city and its residents and received applause when she promised the council would continue on with its campaign for Mt Lindesay Highway improvements.
Her voice cracked as she spoke of how she and fellow councillors had ploughed on through a sometimes tough times though she made no direct reference to the suspension of mayor Luke Smith, who faces charges of perjury and corruption after an CCC investigation. He has vowed to fight the charges.
She stopped to wipe a tear from her eye and wished the room a joyful and jolly Christmas. Guest leapt to their feet. There was applause.
