POLICE have charged a man over a Saturday armed robbery of a Pub Lane tavern at Greenbank.
Police arrested a man, 23, of Wondunna at Acacia Ridge on Thursday, December 6.
He appeared in Beenleigh Magistrates Court today, Friday, December 7, charged with one count each of armed robbery, unlawful use of a motor vehicle, assault occasioning bodily harm whilst armed, possessing tainted property and failing to take reasonable care in respect of syringe.
Police will allege two masked men entered a tavern on Pub Lane, one armed with a hammer and the other with a shotgun, on Saturday, December 1, at 3.39am.
It is further alleged that the men demanded cash from three employees – a 27-year-old man, a 25-year-old woman and their 26-year-old male supervisor – before one of the men struck the 26-year- supervisor in the head with the hammer.
The 26-year-old sustained a minor head injury and was transported to hospital in a stable condition. The other two employees were uninjured.
A Queensland police spokesman said the armed men allegedly fled the address in a vehicle, with a substantial amount of cash.
The same night, police found a stolen Mitsubishi at Scott Lane, North Maclean. It had been stolen from a Harvey Bay residence on November 29 at about 2.50pm and bore stolen plates.
It will be alleged about half the stolen cash was recovered.
Investigations into the identity and whereabouts of the second man are ongoing.
