PEOPLE living in Jimboomba and surrounding areas have been warned not to light fires amid a very high fire danger warning for the south-east coast.
This comes after Queensland Fire and Emergency Services issued an alert for Beaudesert property owners when a fast moving grass fire developed north of Kerry Road on Friday, November 23, shortly after 4pm.
Jimboomba fire station acting captain Jason Hall said people could expect fire friendly conditions to stay the same, if not worsen as the week progressed.
“Until we get significant rain it will remain this way,” he said.
“Fires will be fast moving and can be uncontrollable so people need to taker all precautions and not light any fires during this period.”

Mr Hall said firefighters had been called out to many jobs caused by people lighting fires when they were not permitted to.
“It takes resources away when we need to deal with other fires that come up,” he said.
People who light fires without a permit risk prosecution from Logan City Council and the Queensland government’s Environmental Protection Act.
Firefighters are monitoring the region across the board, and have paid particular attention to Flagstone, Woodhill and Mona Drive, Jimboomba.
People are urged to follow QFES on social media and frequently tune in for radio warnings.
QFES has issued an alert for Undullah residents to be aware of a blaze burning on inaccessible land east of Mount Elliot Road.
Properties are not under threat but residents are warned smoke will affect visibility and air quality.
The Bureau of Meteorology forecast scorching 34 degree maximum temperatures for Beaudesert and Logan today on Monday, November 26.
If there is a fire, call triple zero.
