VANDALS have left their mark on work at Mundoolun Park before it could even open to the public.
Councillor Laurie Koranski expressed disappointed after she received an email from a Mundoolun resident advising the new park, which is under construction, was vandalised on Saturday night.
“I am incredibly disappointed to see this happen. I have written to Jimboomba Police to let them know.”
Cr Koranski said contractors had visited the park on Monday.
Vandals had four of nine new trees, tipped over a portable toilet, threw rubbish every and lifted artificial turf from car tyre seating.
She said contractors cleaned up the site and replacement trees would be ordered.
“This is such incredibly sad news for our community,” Cr Koranski said.
“I know how much pride Mundoolun residents take in our community and how much they have been looking forward to the new park being opened”.
“I’d ask the community to please be vigilant, to keep their eyes open and report any suspicious behaviour to police.”
