WORKS at Greenbank Reservoir from mid-October to late November may affect supplies to Logan households.
Suburbs that may be affected include Boronia Heights, Browns Plains, Chambers Flat, Crestmead, Forestdale, Greenbank, Heritage Park, Hillcrest, Logan Reserve, Park Ridge, Park Ridge South and Regents Park.
Water chair Cr Phil Pidgeon said pipes and lines would be flushed to clear accumulated deposits and chlorine levels at the reservoir adjusted to keep water drinkable.
He warned there could be disruptions to supply but those affected would receive written notification at least 48 hours ahead.
“The message here is if you get a letter in your mailbox on council letterhead then read it. We don’t do these things with just an hour’s notice. We don’t switch off the water without giving people written notice,” he said.
Cr Pidgeon said those who noticed discoloured tap water could usually fix the problem by allowing it to run for a couple of moments. If the problem persisted they could 07 3412 3412 to log the problem with customer service team.
Cr Pidgeon said there might be a noticeable change in the smell or taste of the water.
“Those who drink tank water are going to notice it,” Cr Pidgeon said.
“There may be some discolouration of water that runs from your taps from time to time.
“We’ve sent letters to all who will be affected.
“It’s work that has to be done to keep the network clean and the water healthy and safe to drink.”
