THE Opal Gardens Relay for Life team has exceeded all expectations raising a whopping $10,000 ahead of Jimboomba Relay for Life.
In 2017, more than 50 Logan Village residents banded together to participate in the 18 hour event raising more than $7,000. This year Team Opal set its sights higher.
“We all know someone who has been diagnosed with cancer” team coordinator Ms Nola Green said.
“We’re raising funds for Cancer Council Queensland’s research, prevention and support services. It was really easy to get support from Opal Gardens residents and management.”
Cr Laurie Koranski, a former Cancer Council ambassador, has been actively involved in both the Jimboomba and Logan Relays for Life since inception.
“Jimboomba Relay has raised more than a staggering $1 million over the past 13 years” she said.
“This is all thanks to incredible members of our community, like Team Opal.”
Jimboomba Relay for Life will be held at Hills College on Saturday, from 3pm until Sunday at 9am.
