LOGAN education pups Hugo and Prince got some pampering when they made a visit to Logan Council chambers this week.
Acting mayor Cherie Dalley and Cr Jennie Breene acknowledged the importance of the education dogs who are part of the council’s Be Pet Smart school program.
“I’ve owned many pets over the years and I can vouch for all the positive things they bring in to your life,” Cr Dalley said.
“Study after study has shown they benefit your physical and mental wellbeing by making you more active and giving you unconditional love.
“I’d encourage anyone who’s interested in giving an animal a forever home to visit our Animal Management Centre in Queens Road.”
Parks, animals, environment and waste chair Cr Jennie Breene said Be Pet Smart travels to schools in Logan teaching students baout pet needs and safety.
“The program is about showing children the benefits and responsibilities that come with proactive pet ownership.” Cr Breene said.
“The presentations given by our education and promotions team have been warmly received by the schools and I have no doubt Be Pet Smart has positively influenced the students’ approach to animals.”
Hugo and Prince were chosen for their affectionate and laidback natures.
Hugo was found wandering the streets by Council’s Animal Management team and was about to be re-homed when he was found to be a perfect Be Pet Smart education dog.
