HOMES under construction in the Logan District have been targets for thieves with copper piping and building materials stolen in the past few weeks.
A Queensland Police spokesperson warned residents to be vigilant and secure their homes.
“Offenders are also targeting property items such as purses, handbags, car keys, electrical items and cash...access to the homes are largely through windows and doors,” the spokesperson said.
“Vehicles are being targeted due to the owners leaving their vehicles unlocked and windows down.”
Residents can take security measures to protect their homes by fitting doors with deadlocks, fitting security locks to windows and security screens to doors, installing alarm systems, ensuring all home entry points are closed and leaving valuables out of plain sight.
