LOGAN residents have been warned not to provide personal details to doorknockers claiming to be from Energex.
Energex senior corporate communications advisor Danny Donald said there had been a report in Loganlea of a man claiming to work for Energex wearing high visibility clothes knocking on doors and asking to see people’s power bills.
“Our staff do not do this and (it) could possibly be a scam,” Mr Donald said.
“Reports from one customers say this guy gets very angry when people say no.
“People do sometimes knock on doors claiming to be from us. It is no different to any other sort of scam. You have got to be aware and contact the authorities if you think someone is doing this.”
Mr Donald said Energex employees were not permitted to enter people’s property unless conducting meter readings or inform residents of work being done in the local area.
“Energex staff always have ID and if someone requests to see it then they can produce that,” he said.
“If they can’t produce ID then chances are they are not from our company.”
