THIS year’s Plum Pudding Fiesta was as popular as ever, with 20 teams competing from areas including Victoria Point, Ipswich, Logan, Sunnybank, Algester, Coolangatta, Mudgeeraba, Paradise Point Musgrave Hill and Tweed Heads.
Beaudesert Bowls Club ladies’ secretary Daphne Harlen said the Plum Pudding games were a highlight on the bowls calendar.
“The games are played over two days and Beaudesert members make plum puddings as part of the prizes,” she said.
“We also have $2500 overall prize money.”
Under glorious winter skies on August 13 and 14, Beaudesert locals and visiting teams played four games to win bragging rights, cash and a pudding trophy.
Ladies’ Club president Bev Bryan said the competition had gone well with winners including J. Stevens from Paraside Point in first place, L. Mitchell also from Paradise Point in second place, J. Fox from Algester taking third place and D. Green from North Ipswich in fourth place.
Also present and in fine form was Jean Bell from Ipswich who will celebrate her 99th birthday in December.
