YARRABILBA kids will have more room to learn with stage two works at Yarrabilba State School nearing completion.
The works will increase enrolment capacity from 680 to 1105 and the total number of classrooms on the site to 44.
These works also including two new special education spaces for students with different abilities.
Logan MP Linus Power said that the new works were an important part of the Queensland government’s commitment to families in Logan.
“As a teacher and local member, being here today seeing stage two of Yarrabilba State School come to life is a really special thing,” said Mr Power.
“I fought hard with the community to secure this school, as well as the new Yarrabilba High School, because I believe that every single child in Yarrabilba deserves a place to go to school and that every single parent shouldn’t have to travel great distances to get their kid an education.”
“Yarrabilba is one of the fastest growing areas in Queensland, and the added capacity that this second stage of construction will bring will seriously expand educational services available to families here in Logan.”
“The school motto here is ‘together believing, together achieving’. I think that is seriously relevant to our community here in Logan - we fight hard for what is fair and this school is a perfect example of that hard work paying off.”
Yarrabilba State School principal Lee Harrex anticipates students may move into the new spaces as early as next term.
