LOGAN City councillor Darren Power says he has been summonsed to appear for dumped Logan chief executive Sharon Kelsey in the Queensland Industrial Relations Court.
Cr Power said at a Logan City Council meeting on Tuesday morning that he had received the summons.
Declaring a conflict of interest, he removed himself from the chambers during a vote on a confidential item in a mayoral report.
After the meeting Cr Power said there was not much more he could say.
“As a result of how serious the matter was, I thought it best to vacate the room,” he said.
Cr Power said the hearing on Ms Kelsey’s dismissal was expected to commence on or about July 30.
He said he would not appear on a separate matter relating to Ms Kelsey that was listed to go to the court on Wednesday, July 18.
“I have been summonsed by Ms Kelsey to appear at the full hearing. That’s all I can say at the moment. I imagine I’ll have to sit in the room and both sides will be throwing questions at me.”
Cr Power said he would appear in support of Ms Kelsey.
“I do that as a whistleblower and in support of Ms Kelsey, who is a whistleblower.”
