JIM Clark is 93-years-old, but this has not stopped him from winning bowls championships.
Clark partnered with Pauline Young to claim the mixed pairs championship at the Greenbank Gardens Bowls Club on July 8 after winning three rounds.
They won the final game with a four point margin.
The duo have competed with and against each other for more than 10 years.
Clark said he was lucky to get an early win in his bowling career when he started at Beenleigh 15 years ago.
“I was lucky enough to win the singles championship at (Beenleigh) in the first year I played bowls. It was a big fluke but also a big moment for me,” he said.
He said he was lucky to have a competent partner in Pauline Young to help him win at Greenbank.
“That helped me win for sure,” he said.
Young said it was an honour to be presented with the shield and badge following the win.
“It was a great day and a good final which was very close. Jim and I go back a long time and we had fun,” she said.
The champions encouraged others to join the bowls club to enjoy an atmosphere of social fun.
“There is a social side to bowls you meet friends and it is good fun,” Clark said.
“It is an important part of a retired persons life.”
Young said it was a good way to mix exercise with social networking.
Greenbank Gardens Bowls Club vice president Len Holden presented Jim and Pauline with their shield after the win.
