A TEAM of adult gymnasts travelled to Gladstone for the 2018 Gymnastics Masters Competition.
Coach Jessica Shaw said teams that usually competed for Jimboomba Gymnastics Club were young gymnasts.
This trip was different because it involved an adult class.
“They are a great bunch of ex and beginner gymnasts who have been training around their work and lifestyle commitments this last few months,” Ms Shaw said.
“It is exciting to have such a committed team to represent Jimboomba.
Rhys Douglas and Joel Wiggins both competed in the men’s competition.
Wiggins finishing a fantastic second overall, while Douglas finished an amazing fifth.
For the women’s competition Hannah Rose put in awesome routines finishing ninth in her division.
Jessica Shaw was equally impressive with a second on floor, third on bars and third overall.
Jodie Rybarczyk placed first on bars, first on floor and first overall.
Jimboomba Gymnastics head coach Callie Wall was delighted.
“I am very proud of the Jimboomba Gymnastics Club competitors and it is fantastic to see some of our coaches and adult gymnasts competing at Masters,” Ms Wall said.
Former club coach Christine Mahoney was unable to compete due to an injury sustained in training.
“It was sad,” Ms Wall said.
“However she still travelled to Gladstone to be the team judge and I am sure will be a competitor next year when JGC can hopefully send an even bigger team to represent our community.
“Overall these five gymnasts have taught us age is not a barrier and you are never too old.”
