JORDAN MP Charis Mullen has recognised the region’s hard-working and resilient rural fire fighters as Rural Fire Services Week celebrations kick off across the state.
Ms Mullen said the region was fortunate to have so many volunteers who gave up their time to serve and protect the community.
“The RFS has a proud history in our region and a lot of these people – particularly our long-serving members – have played a massive part in making the RFS what it is today,” Ms Mullen said.
“I want to pay particular tribute to the Greenbank Rural Fire Brigade for their dedication and unwavering support of both the RFS and their community.”
Ms Mullen said RFS Week, running until June 9, was a chance to say thank you to RFS members.
“Many take time away from their jobs and loved ones to help their community when it’s needed most, so it’s only fitting we all take some time to thank them. Committing time and skills to volunteer in your community is an honourable act and while many volunteers don’t expect recognition, it’s important we show them that their commitment doesn’t go unnoticed.”
