THOUSANDS have turned out to help Jimboomba State School celebrate its first school fete in more than two decades.
Principal Tim Farrell declared it a success
“We couldn’t be happier with the turn out,” Mr Farrell said.
“This event has been 12 months in the making. It’s 20 years since the last school fete. We have a lot of people here who are very excited.”
Visitors have come from near and far to watch the fun unfold.
Sideshow alley with its Big Swing Chairs, Cobra, Sizzler, Spinning Tea Cups, Bucking Bull and more was a hit with the kids.
A crowd gathered to see deputy principal Grant Pyke cop a soaking at the hands several students who excelled at Balloon Splat.
“They’re too good at this,” he laughed.
Families found a comfy spot on a hay bale to sit and watch performances by local dance schools and school bands.
The fun continues into the evening with a performance by country artist Keith Dunn and fireworks around 8pm.
Funds raised will be used to finish air conditioning the school.
