JIMBOOMBA State School will hold its first bush fete in more than 20 years tomorrow.
It’s been a year in the planning but there’s just one more sleep until the fun begins.
The first rides bumped in this morning and started setting up.
Grade three student Jennifer Smith, 7, is just one of kids who can’t wait to make the most of all the action.
Her mum is on the P&C and has helped to organise the fund raiser that is open to the public. Jennifer, her little brother Cameron and mum Janet arrived at school early yesterday to watch The Sizzler, Big Chair Ride and stage bump in on the school oval.
“Jimboomba hasn’t had a fete for more than 20 years,” Mrs Smith said.
“I can’t wait for the kids to experience it all. I used to go to that school myself. The bush picnics were so much fun. I remember the big slide and line dancers on the back of truck.”
There won’t be line dancing on trucks this year, but there will be plenty to keep young and old amused with face painting, rides, hot cars, chopper rides, petting zoo, a cadet’s rifle display, performances by the school band and local dance schools, a DJ, live country music by Keith Dunn and fireworks.
Sideshow alley features nine attractions. There will be showbags, food and stalls featuring goods including cakes baked by the kids and a cent auction. Funds raised will be used to buy air conditioning.
The Jimboomba Bush Fete will be held at Jimboomba State School on Saturday from 3pm-8pm. Entry is free.
