CONSTRUCTION has begun the $3.6 million Yarrabilba Family, Children and Community Hub to be based at Yarrabilba State School.
Logan MP Linus Power, councillor Laurie Koranski and Yarrabilba State School principal Lee Harex turned the first sod on April 23 on the project which will create 12 jobs and reach completion August this year.
Mr Power said the Community Hub construction was put in place to ensure services keep up with population growth.
“With more than 45,000 people expected to be living in Yarrabilba by 2041, projects like the community hub will be key to supporting the health and learning needs of local families,” he said.
“This hub will also provide links to training and employment opportunities.”
Minister for State Development, Manufacturing, Infrastructure and Planning Cameron Dick said the project was fully funded by the state government through the Community Hub and Partnerships (CHaPs) program.
“The CHaPs program is continuing to bring together industry and government with the community services sector to produce real social outcomes,” Mr Dick said.
“A further 20,000 jobs in the community sector will be needed to meet future growth across Queensland.”
The Community Hub construction comes just months after the Yarrabilba State School officially opened in January this year.
