THE Jimboomba Thunder Rugby League Club season launch is expected to be a major hit with local families.
Jimboomba Thunder held its first season open day last year which attracted hundreds of community members to enjoy a day of sporting entertainment.
Jimboomba Thunder president Neil Richards said he was hoping to replicate the success in 2018.
“Last year was really successful and we had a good turnout from families in the community so we decided to do it again,” he said.
“We have support from council and also have (Logan MP) Linus Power and (councillor) Trevina Schwarz contributing funds.”
The event on March 10 will directly follow the Rugby 9’s school gala event on March 9 which will see students from a range of state schools get their teeth into NRL ahead of the sign ons.
Jimboomba Thunder president Neil Richards said there was still plenty of room for new and experienced players to fill.
“At this stage the under 13, 15 and 17 age groups are close to full but with the other age groups there is room to fill an existing team or for a second team,” he said.
“We can take numbers in each age group and can do with more numbers in the women’s group.
“We have already attracted some new players so we are looking pretty healthy across the board.”
The open day will kick off from 3pm and will feature a range of activities including a jumping castle, carnival rides, market stalls, face painting a giant slide and football activities.
There will also be a fireworks display at 7pm.
