With only two weeks until completion, Corella Construction's latest effort is nearing the pointy end and so it's a hive of activity. Today, it's brimming with workers focused on the outdoor living area at the front of the house.
Director Craig Brown has an eye for detail, so he spends a lot of time on his work sites, keeping an eye on construction.
"This house is called the 'vine house'," Mr Brown said. "We're really excited to get it to market."
It took its name from the greenery draped off the end of the front outdoor living area, growing down toward the garage doors.
It is the first of three luxury homes he and his wife Ella are building in Carroll Street, Bardon, an elevated, leafy inner-city enclave.
"Quite often with development sites they end up looking like oversized townhomes," Ms Brown said. "We wanted something that could have been built at different times and people felt like they were going home to something unique."
They came to own the three blocks almost by accident. The Browns went to the auction on a whim and had to contend with their unco-operative child as well as the other bidders.
They turned one large 1600-square-metre block into three roughly 550-square-metre lots, knocking down a postwar brick house in the process.
The first house to take its place, the vine house, makes exceptional use of the space with two incredibly large living areas only split by three steps up into the kitchen and dining room.
The four bedrooms are on the top floor with another, smaller, living area and study nook. The Browns laid out the house in a way that suits how they like to live.
"The whole house opens up," Mr Brown said. "You get this feeling it's continuous all the way through."
And it seems the way the Browns like to live resonates with buyers; another of their Bardon creations, which they sold last year, won them numerous awards, including two national titles at the Master Builders Australia awards: best renovation above $1 million and best swimming pool.
Despite the accolades and recognition, the couple didn't dwell on their awards, instead taking a few lessons here and there from the stunning renovation of the old Queenslander.
"That home was quite different, but the principles were the same. When you go beyond the standards you need detail," Ms Brown said.
"What that build really showed to us was people notice and care about details and to build that calibre of home, some of the things you previously could have just looked past, you needed to focus on those details."
Place's Simon Wheelans is marketing the Carroll Street home - he said the Browns' attention to detail made it an easy sell.
"We've been involved in the project since the holes were dug in the ground," he said. "I think when buyers are looking to buy a home, they want to know there's been no shortcuts being taken.
"As an agent, if you know the product you can assure the buyers the job has been done in a good-fashion way and in a quality way."
Designed by architect Tim Stewart, 36 Carroll Street, Bardon, features four bedrooms, two bathrooms, high ceilings throughout, a wine cellar and is in the Rainworth State School catchment.
