TWO Scenic Rim families are having a bull riding fundraiser to help send Fionnan Nally and Jack Savery overseas to play in the Ibercup’s International Youth Football Tournament.
The 10-year-olds were selected to join one of two teams who are competing in the Netherlands, England and Portugal on March 2.
The bull riding and family fun night event will be held on January 25 to help cover travel costs for Fionnan and Jack’s trip.
Guests can have a go on a bull riding machine, with entertainment and prizes to be won at the Veresdale Hotel from 6.30pm to 9.30pm.
The event is free but there is a charge for those riding the bull.
Fionnan’s mother Fiona Nally said it would be a struggle to save enough funds to have her son compete overseas without help from the community.
“It’s critical to have the boys go,” she said.
“They have reached that level in their sport that it would be such a shame not to see it through.”
Ms Nally said local businesses had already been generous by donating gifts for prizes.
“Everyone has been so supportive of the boys,” she said.
“I hope everyone comes along to have a good night, enjoy themselves and get to talk to the boys because they’ll see just how passionate they are about football.”
Fionnan said he was looking forward to the trip and could not imagine missing out on the tournament.
“I’ll be devastated if I don’t go,” he said.
Fionnan said he was hoping people who enjoyed football as much as he did would come along to the event.
“I will be happy to see so many people who will turn out to help support kids going overseas,” he said.
Entertainment groups who wish to be part of the event can contact Fiona Nally on 0411 452 273.
