UPDATE 11.00am
A JIMBOOMBA woman is lucky to be alive after a truck crashed into her house, just next to where she was sitting.
Gloria Lindgren was eating breakfast and watching television when the vehicle smashed into the hallway of the granny flat about 7am.
Mrs Lindgren’s husband John Richard was spraypainting the fence nearby.
The truck came from the driveway of a property across the road from the house.
Mr Lindgren said he had waved at the driver and had turned towards the fence when he heard a noise.
“I wondered why a vehicle was coming here as we weren’t expecting any deliveries and why it was going so fast,” he said.
Mrs Lindgren said she heard the noise of the crash just near to her and wondered what had happened.
“I was worried about John. I thought it was our car, then realised it was a truck,” she said.
“We’ve got dogs here and one sits by the hallway so I started to look for my dogs to make sure they weren’t hurt.
“I screamed for my son-in-law. I was crying and in shock.”
Mrs Lindgren said she was glad that no one was hurt.
In addition to the damage to the house, glasses and ornaments she had collected over the years were smashed.
Some had been bought nearly 50 years ago from a Myer store at Fortitude Valley.
“There were wine glasses with gold trimmings, porcelain cats and crystal glasses,” she said.
Mrs Lindgren said they were not angry with the driver.
“The poor man was in such shock,” she said.
“We are not angry with him. I don’t believe anger helps anyone.
“It was an accident. We are upset about what happened but we are all safe and that’s what is important.”
The couple had just moved into the home on Saturday, next door to their daughter and son-in-law.
