LOGAN City Council hopes three-year-old Lorna will find her new best friend by Christmas.
Lorna is fast approaching a record that no one at Logan’s Animal Management Centre wants her to achieve: She could soon earn the title of being at the centre for the longest time while trying to find a home.
A council spokesperson said Lorna was impounded on September 2 after being found wandering in Kingston.
“She wasn’t claimed and has been looking for a new owner ever since,” the spokesperson said.
Lorna is a playful and affectionate Staffordshire bull terrier mix.
“Lorna would suit a family with older children who are prepared to keep her active,” the spokesperson said.
“In return, she will shower them with affection and loyalty.”
Lorna has been vaccinated, de-sexed, micro-chipped and registered.

The spokesperson said that all pets, no matter what age, needed more attention over the Christmas-New Year period.
“But what they don’t need is treats off the Christmas menu,” the spokesperson said.
Other tips include:
- Don't feed them Christmas leftovers. Large amounts of salty ham, snack foods, cheese, chocolate, nuts and seafood can harm your pets' health.
- Never leave your pet unattended in direct sunlight or in a closed vehicle as heatstroke can occur. It only takes six minutes to lose your furry friend.
- Always make sure your pet has access to plenty of fresh, clean water.
- Summer signals storms in Queensland. Make sure your pet's enclosure is escape proof and provides shelter from all types of weather.
- New Year fireworks can be frightening for pets – ensure they have a safe place to take shelter.
- Avoid strenuous exercise with your pet on hot days - early morning or evening walks may be best.
- Pets can get sunburnt, especially short haired pets or those with pink skin and white hair. Apply pet specific sunscreen before going out in the sun.
