LOGAN City Council is set to work closely with local government in Cincinnati.
The cities signed a non-binding economic agreement, the first economic agreement the Logan council has signed with a city in the United States.
Mayor Luke Smith said Cincinnati, like Logan, aimed to boost economic growth through innovation.
“The agreement creates the framework for co-operation between Logan City Council and the City of Cincinnati in the areas of government, investment attraction, economic development, innovation and technology, as well as raising our cities’ profiles globally,” he said.
“We look forward to strengthening our partnership with Cincinnati to achieve our common goals and create a prosperous future for both our cities’ constituents.”
Cincinnati City Manager Harry Black said the partnership between Cincinnati and Logan was important because of similar interests particularly when it comes to developing the means to becoming smart cities.
“We can learn from each other to develop technology to better serve our citizens,” Mr Black said.
Cr Smith is currently leading a 10-day trade mission to the United States and Canada to strengthen economic ties with local government authorities and potential investors as part of council’s global connections strategy.
