DISAPPOINTED organisers had to cancel Carols in the Parkland at Yarrabilba on Saturday as storms lashed the region.
The second annual event was expected attract more than the 5500 people who turned out in 2016.
With food trucks and the stage ready well before the 4pm starting time, the Yarrabilba Community Association delayed making a decision as to whether the event would go head until 4.30pm.
On the advice of emergency services personnel, organisers decided to cancel the event.
“The safety of our community is most important,” they said.
Among the entertainers set to showcase their talents to attendees at the event were Footlights Theatrical, who had travelled from Brisbane.
