Hi, I am am pretty astounded at all the hype regarding upgrading Mount Lindsay Highway.
The highway is actually in pretty good nick. It’s actually the drivers who are causing all the problems.
I drive on Mount Lindsay Highway up to several times a day and while I have had my life threatened many times, its not from the condition of the road, its actually from really poor driving of some minority of drivers.
Drivers who don’t obey the speed limits, tail gate (because they have obviously some where more important to be than the rest of us), risk takers etc
I would, and am, more concerned by the poor planning I have have witnessed over the past 12 years regards all the feeder roads in our areas.
By this I mean for example what occurring right now in the Greenbank/New Beith area.
An issue common with several other areas such as Flagstone, Yarabilba etc.
There are many new estates popping up everywhere with up to thousands of new residents moving in to these areas.
But on our stretch of road for example, there has been three times over the past three years that we have had pot holes filled but not even a road resurface.
We have gone from about 10 vehicles travelling on it per hour to now 80.
This now includes heavy vehicles and buses.
I have spoken with our council and local councillor who, while responsive, have advised there is no plans on any improvement in our area for the foreseeable future.
When pushed on how long that may be, 15 years was the response.
For the life of me I don’t understand why that council and state governments (past and present) approve such estates that they do not have developers more responsible for contribution to infrastructure improvements prior to the opening of said developments.
Can anyone tell me? Please, it would be nice to know.
