Logan Drivers and Riders Association have helped a carriage driver with disabilities compete in her first show.
Molendinar horsewoman Lyn Clark said her dreams had come true when the opportunity arose to drive in the south-east Queensland extravaganza harness, breed and hack show last weekend at Buccan.
Mrs Clark said she had been classified as a quadriplegic after an accident 14 years ago.
“I’d always loved carriage driving and had done a bit before my accident,” she said.
“I was a Riding for the Disabled coach for 20 years as well so I love to be around horses.”
Mrs Clark took out three champion ribbons and four first places in the extravaganza.
“Being able to take part in carriage driving make me feel like I have freedom,” she said.
“I can interact with my horse by taking part in it because I’m not allowed to ride.”

Mrs Clark said she had been working with Hillary Stubbs and Debbie King to get back into the carriage world.
”There’s a lot of persistence and support to get myself back into this,” she said.
”We thought I was ready for my first show and then the Logan Drivers show came up.
“It was even better than I had thought it would be.
“Everything I had wanted to achieve finally happened.”
Mrs Clark said she had a lot of support from the driving community as well as her husband, Bob.
“He’s building me my own carriage, so I can go and compete some more,” she said.
Logan Drivers and Riders president Debbie Hamilton said carriage sport was one that everyone, regardless of their abilities, was able to take part in and encouraged more people to get involved with their group.
