The Kids Therapy Club (KTC) opened its doors on September 5 at Tamborine State School and provides a one-stop shop of therapy options to families of children with special needs.

KTC director Fiona Fragakis said the service was not just for students of the school but also families across the Scenic Rim.
The club encouraged families in Jimboomba, Beaudesert and surrounding areas to access services.
“It is imperative that families are aware of our presence, not only for their children but for the support services being offered to families on what can be a long and isolating journey,” Ms Fragakis said.
“Children with Autism spectrum disorder, ADD, ADHD, sensory issues and Asperger’s syndrome have a higher likelihood than most of suffering from mental health issues in their teenage years, which naturally penetrates the psychology of the family unit as well.”
Ms Fragakis said the therapy team included child psychologists, occupational therapists, speech therapists and physiotherapists, teacher aides, counsellors and nutritionists.
“Discovering where to start a child’s therapy is crucial, as in most cases delivering various types of therapy in unison will be ineffective and a waste of time,” she said.
“Parents no longer have to determine their own way through the minefield of therapies that promise to make a difference. Our team is equipped to properly assess children and effectively create road maps to maximise children’s potential.
“The club was designed to be a sensory wonderland, to promote a sense of belonging, visually captivate and inspire commitment and dedication from every child.”
She said KTC boasted a complete occupational therapy studio, speech room, psychology room and a sensory room filled with sensory lights, toys, octopus, bubbles and fish tanks.
The club also provides group social skills, music therapy and school holiday programs.
