LOCALS who have hearts of gold were recognised for their voluntary efforts across southern Logan and the Scenic Rim.

Federal member Scott Buchholz presented 13 volunteers with Wright Community Contribution Awards at St Mary’s Mercy Hall on Tuesday, August 29.
Award winners were nominated by community members for their hard work and dedication towards helping others.
Barbarah Kenny, who received an award for her volunteer work with local veterans and Quilts of Valour, said she was humbled by the recognition.
“It’s a nice gesture, knowing what you are doing is worthwhile and is appreciated in the community,” she said.

Awarded with her were volunteers Doris Rita Cracknell, Janet Dennis, David Edgeworth, William Hillman, Joanne Holden, Raymond Hyland, Heather Kenrick, Ian McDougall, Steven Monteath, Linda Sheldon, Carol Taylor and Philip Thomson.
Federal Member for Wright Scott Buchholz praised the winners as unsung heroes in the community.
“I established these awards as a way to recognise the local volunteers who deserve appreciation for their outstanding contribution to the Scenic Rim community,” he said.
“Life is short but our local volunteers generously give their time to the various community and sporting organisations that make the Scenic Rim such a wonderful place to live.”
