Nine students from Emmaus College took part in the readers cup challenge prior to the school holidays.
Year 7 students competed on June 13, while the year 6 students took to the challenge on June 15.
Each team travelled to Redeemer Lutheran College to compete.
During the challenge the teams read a set of books with other teams and then answer quiz questions.
Teacher Librarian Trish O’Connell said neither Emmaus team received medals however the students all thoroughly enjoyed the experience.
“All our students were terrific ambassadors for our school,” she said.
Readers Cup is a state wide competition organised by the Queensland Branch of the Children's Book Council of Australia.
The competition challenges students to read widely, work collaboratively in a team and continue developing a love of reading.
It allows readers to compete at a regional and state level similar to sporting competitions and to meet other students with an equal passion for books.
