The paper people projects is a culmination of more than 2000 conversations with Logan families about what was important to them.
The colourful project was collated by Logan Together who are working to create the best life and opportunities for every child in Logan.
Logan Together’s Director Matthew Cox said the exercise was undertaken as part of a comprehensive program of community listening activities that sought to capture the voice of local children.
“It’s provided some really useful insights for us, and we’re really grateful to everyone that has been involved,” he said.
“Asking kids ‘what’s important to you’ is a powerful way to start some really important conversations.”
In addition to forming a colourful and visual display, the outcomes will be shared with government and community groups, and will importantly help inform Logan Together’s ongoing program of work.
The launch of the display coincided with the annual National Simultaneous Storytime where people stop around the country at 11am to read a book.
Logan mayor Luke Smith read The Cow Tripped Over the Moon by Tony Wilson to a group of children including the kids from Eagleby Children’s Centre.
The Logan community is invited to come along to view the hundreds of little paper people, and also to complete their own and add their voice to the community project.
The interactive display of Little Paper People will be on display at the Logan Art Gallery until June 10.
