The Ahmadiyya Muslim community whose mosque is based at Stockleigh have been hard at work helping their fellow community members clean-up after the effects of the recent floods.
Just as they did after the 2011 floods affected large parts of Logan the Ahmadiyya community have rallied around flood victims and worked tirelessly since Friday to lend a hand in the recovery efforts after the flooding that hit Logan as a result of Cyclone Debbie.
Since Friday Ahmadiyya muslims have aided in recovery efforts in Jimboomba, North and South Maclean, Beenleigh and Logan Reserve and other Logan suburbs and have even helped in the Brisbane suburbs of Rosalie and Paddington.
Ahmadiyya Community media coordinator Zain Baig said the community was on a mission to help get the flood victims back on their feet.
“We have been continuing our nonstop flood relief efforts since Friday and we won't stop until everyone in need has been helped,” he said.
“We were tremendously affected after realising Friday morning how many people are in need and anguish.”
As well as the clean-up and recovery efforts the Ahmadiyya community has offerred their Baitul Masroor Mosque as a place of refuge if flood victims need somewhere to sleep or have a shower.
Mr Baig said the Ahmadiyya Community prides itself on giving back to community in various ways but especially in times of need.
“We are Muslims that value mateship and this is the time to come together as a community,” he said.
“We passionately helped out in the 2011 flood relief with our young and old and we are driven to help our fellow Queenslanders though this disaster as well.”
