The state and federal governments have announced a joint funding measure to widen the Mount Lindesay Highway.

Twenty million dollars has been pledged in the co-agreement, with the federal government putting in the lions share of the money.
The specific section of highway that will be upgraded is still unknown, with the results of a Department of Transport and Main Roads (TMR) study to determine where the funding will be allocated.
It is believed that the money will go towards the portions of the highway identified by the TMR study as most in need.
The state government has left the door open for this to include any lane widening between Browns Plains and Beaudesert.
The Mount Lindesay Highway upgrade is one of five road projects to receive funding, with upgrades to the M1 and Pacific Motorway also announced.
Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk said the Queensland Government was pleased to have reached this outcome following constructive discussions with the Federal Government.
“Today we’ve announced more than half a billion dollars in funding for major road infrastructure projects in South East Queensland and Central Queensland which is great for Queensland jobs,” Ms Palaszczuk said.
Minister for Urban Infrastructure Paul Fletcher said today’s announcement was a significant result for motorists in south-east Queensland.
“Queenslanders want to see the roads they need get built as quickly as possible and are not interested in arcane disagreements between state and federal governments,” Mr Fletcher said.
Logan MP Linus Power said it was a step in the right direction that the state and federal governments were working together to fund this project.
“The fact that the federal government see this as a road of national significance will make a big difference for the people who use the Mount Lindesay,” he said.
“The job is not done though and more funds are needed, so to everyone who has signed a petition or written a letter to the editor or contacted your local member, please continue to do so.”
Beaudesert MP Jon Krause has welcomed the Federal Coalition’s funding commitment saying the investment was due to his strong working relationship with federal MP Scott Buchholz.
“Beaudesert, Logan and the Scenic Rim benefits when they have local members working together,” Mr Krause said.
“Scott and I have been fighting to get the Mount Lindesay properly funded and this is a big step in the right direction.
“The section from Jimboomba north to Stoney Camp Road is the section that most urgently needs improvement, and there are also serious issues with the flow of traffic through Jimboomba.”
Mr Krause said he will keep fighting for further funding to be allocated toward the Mount Lindesay Highway.
“It’s also incumbent on the Logan Council to make sure their roads and developments aren’t putting undue pressure on the highway.”
