BEAUDESERT police volunteers will be out in force next week, securing vehicle plates at the Safe Pl8 event.
Volunteers will be fitting vehicles with free one-way screws to ensure plates are secure and safe from thieves.
The event will be held at Jubilee Park from 8.30am on Thursday, March 9.
A police spokeswoman said stolen registration plates could be used to disguise a vehicle to commit crimes.
“They are also used on unregistered vehicles to make it appear as if the vehicle is registered,” she said.
“By having one-way screws, it makes your vehicle more secure and difficult for your number plates to be removed by thieves.”
The spokeswoman said she encouraged people to regularly check their vehicles to see that both plates are still in place.
If vehicle plates are stolen, call Beaudesert Police to report the theft on 55421155.
