After nearly a decade, Park Ridge Active Riding Group have finally been successful in gaining funding to upgrade their facilities.
The group were successful in gaining funding totaling $205,837 to construct a new toilet block, change room and first aid room.
President Kay Paulsen said the upgrades would help the group enormously.
“The toilet block has needed upgrading or replacing now for many years,” she said.
“When the club moved to the grounds in 1987 and the original toilet block was built in 1990, the club never envisaged that it would be as big and popular as it is today.
“With para-equestrian dressage on the increase, the need for a disabled toilet for both competitors and spectators is important.”
The changes to the Biosecurity Act also meant the club needed changing and showering facilities in case a biosecurity outbreak occurred.
Work is scheduled to begin in August or September and so the group have lightened their activities during these months.
Ms Paulsen said the group were very excited to finally receive funding as the facilities were continuing to struggle during big competition days.
”The club can’t wait to have the celebratory function when the project is completed,” she said.
The Queensland Government provided $100,000 and Logan City Council $105,837 to Park Ridge Active Riding Group Inc to construct toilet block, change room and first aid room to increase Queenslanders participation in sport and recreation activities.
