Our mothers always told us to clean behind our ears, but what about inside our ears?
It’s not the easiest to clean and we’ve all been told using cotton tips is a bad idea.
Blockage, inflammation and infection of the ear canal are common problems leading to pain and hearing loss.
With the increased humidity of Queensland and our love of the water only worsen the problems at this time of year.
In conjunction with local ENT specialists, the Yarrabilba Health Hub doctors have had extended training in managing these problems using ear suction.

Because this does not use water to wash the canal, it does not risk damage to the ear drum or canal.
The Clean Ear Clinic is an open access clinic, which means you do not require a referral to see one of the doctors for this service, although they are happy to receive one from your GP.
You do not need to be a regular patient of the Yarrabilba Health Hub either.
Simply call 5603 1702 and ask to book into the Clean Ear Clinic.
Hearing assessments are also available.
Joining the hub in this ENT service is local speech pathologist Lorelle Savage.
Many voice and speech problems can be assessed and treated.
Later this year hub doctors will also offer nasendoscopy to visualise the throat and voice box.
