Chicks Conquering Cancer have put the call out to the Jimboomba and Beaudesert communities to get behind their Christmas appeal.
The chicks are aiming to help as many of the families, who are assisted by the group, as they can coming into the Christmas period.
CCC president Kathy Smith said last year the group managed to create 17 hampers but they would need many more this year.
“It really isn’t even the actual gift that these people look for, it is knowing that someone else out there is thinking about them in this tough circumstance,” she said.
“We really want to be able to give everyone at least a small gift this year.
“This is a community focus where we should all be banding together for the Christmas season.
“Christmas is a family time and so others in need should play on our mind that much more.”
Chicks Conquering Cancer are asking the community to donate non-perishable food items, unopened toys or gifts and other hamper items for a household.
Monetary donations can be made through the groups gofundme page here.
Items can be dropped off at Queensland Country Credit Union branches at Jimboomba Shopping Centre, Jimboomba or Beaudesert Fair, Beaudesert.
The chicks will also be hosting their Christmas stall outside of Jimboomba Coles on December 8, 9 and 10, where donations and hamper items for the Christmas appeal can be made.
Donations for the Christmas appeal will conclude on December 19.
The group will then disperse the gifts and hampers to those families in need of a bit of Christmas cheer.
