Jimboomba Thunder’s Open Women’s team have been active in recent weeks holding a car wash on November 19 to raise funds for an exciting opportunity with the Sunshine Coast Falcons.
The Women’s team have forged a strong connection with the Sunshine Coast Falcons under 20’s Queensland Cup Team and the coaching staff.
Last weekend the open women’s team took part in a skill development and team bonding weekend developed and run by the Falcon’s head coach, Craig Ingebrigtsen.
The team travelled to the Falcon's stadium at Caloundra where the coaching staff ran the team through a series of skill development sessions focusing on correct tackling techniques, defensive skills, line speed, attacking plays and game day structure.
Coaches Greg Carson and Rob Smith were both keen to learn the different training techniques used over the weekend to help keep the team fresh and energised for the coming season.
Kylie Lewis and Rhyanen Patterson were awarded a training kit from the Falcon’s for their excellent attitudes and efforts during the pre-season skills development camp.
Both ladies have played with the team now for two years.
Their display over the weekend has set the next seasons training standards very high.

The enthusiasm shown by the players has given the coaching staff a taste of the potential for next season and both coaches are really looking forward to the coming season.
Head coach Carson was particularly impressed with the strong numbers for the pre-season camp.
The open women’s team has had several new players make contact looking to play in 2017.
With increased numbers the coaching staff believed Jimboomba Thunder has potential to surprise a number of the established teams in the south-east Queensland division.
With the women's competition is due to start late March 2017 there is still time for interested players to join the team.
The team has a strong plan for next season both on and off the field.
Many of the players have identified they want to be more active within the club and their community, so as a team they have committed to have a high presence at the club and community events.
The team is also looking for a new sponsor for the 2017 season and team manager Andrew Bakon can be contacted on 0448 606 473.
