The efforts of Logan City Council have been awarded at the Planning Institute of Australia’s 2016 Awards for Planning Excellence in Queensland.
The governing body was presented with The Hard Won Victory award for the Loganholme Local Plan, which was a project that included lot-by-lot re-configurations of housing densities, planning clarifications and refinements to stormwater easements.
The institute acknowledged the plan as “a clear example of where commitment by both the planners and administration, determination; and a demonstration that the community was engaged and listened to delivering good planning outcomes.”
Planning and Development Committee Chairman, councillor Russell Lutton, said the project took six years to develop, with council working closely with the community.
“Extensive public consultation and several iterations of the plan ensured that we comprehensively captured and reflected the views and values of everyone in the community,” he said.
“A high level of dedication and persistence was required by Council officers, who returned to the drawing board time and time again, to accommodate community input as it became more detailed.”
