Doing Good Week takes place from September 5 to September 11 and aims to bring stores and their local communities together to support the organisations and individuals who need it most.
The team provided support in the form of much needed appliances to Logan House Fire Support Network, Brisbane Motorcycle Street Feed, and residents Breanna Rosser and James Robert Nichols.
Logan House Fire Support Network were the recipients of three toasters, kettles and microwaves to help families whose homes have been affected by fire help set up their homes again.
The street feed team received a Samsung 34L 1000W microwave and Breville Scraper Mixer with polished stainless steel bowl for volunteers to use in preparing meals for Brisbane’s homeless.
Breanna Rosser received a mixer to continue to be able to bakes for her local church and makes dinners to help out her family members.
James Robert Nichols received a dishwasher and a free installation to minimise the spread of bacteria in his home as he undergoes intensive chemotherapy and surgery for a rare type of cancer.
“It is so important to make a difference in a tangible way, and all acts of kindness embarked upon during Doing Good Week are very personal to those involved,” Browns Plains Store Executive Manager Ben Richards said.
“We are passionate about making a difference in our local community and having a positive impact on important social issues.”
In total The Good Guys across Australia have undertaken more than 500 acts of Doing Good this year, donating more than $350,000 worth of appliances.
“By completing as many acts as possible we can ensure that we give back to every community in which we operate, something that The Good Guys is committed to doing for a long time into the future,” Mr Richards said.
Doing Good Week is part of The Good Guys Doing Good program, which sees more than $1 million donated back to over 100 local charities through the Local Giving Program and more than $600,000 through in-kind giving each year to more than 1,000 local community groups and families.
