Jimboomba motorists may have had a smile of delight after realising they could still purchase E10 Unleaded for 85.1c today.
Unleaded was steady at 90.5c and non-docketed discount E10 was 89.1c.
The discount at Jimboomba’s Coles Express was discovered over the weekend, with motorists expecting the price to increase during the week.
By Wednesday, August 31, the four cent discount price was still 85.1c.
Unleaded prices at other petrol stations in Jimboomba were seen to be at 112.9c on the same day.
RACQ spokesperson Renee Smith said prices in Brisbane were on the increase with the price cycle bringing unleaded up to 129.9c.
“It motorists are seeing 90c per litre, we’d urge them to snap that up,” she said.
“This could be some of the cheapest unleaded in Queensland.”
The price differences in Jimboomba come after a recent call from Minister for Energy, Biofuels and Water Supply Mark Bailey urging the ACCC to open an official investigation into Brisbane’s petrol prices.
“Petrol prices are at their lowest in 14 years due to historically low crude oil prices and international refined petrol prices, but retail margins are at a record high,” he said.
“Clearly, this is not being passed on to Queensland motorists.
“Drivers have been copping it for years, now is the time for them to get a fair go.”
Coles marketing team refused to comment on the fuel price in Jimboomba.
