Tarragindi seemed to have something to prove, coming out firing in the first half, making a number of attempts at goal. But Logan Village’s defence stayed strong.
With the help of some fancy footwork by Louis Shayan at the net, goalie Courtney Rae showed great skills to keep Tarragindi scoreless, while the Falcons’ forwards gave their rivals a lot of work to do. The teams went to the half-time break at 0-0.
Logan Village came back onto the field with determination and commitment. Minutes into the second half, Ben Lewis put one in the net for the Falcons.
Tarragindi’s defence was forced to work overtime for the rest of the match, as Logan Village fired multiple shots at goal, only to be foiled by some great saves.
Coach Matt Lewis and the spectators were on the edge of their seats as the ball came tantalisingly close to the nets on many occasions.
Louis Shayan eventually scored again to give the Falcons some breathing space, then Tyler Freeman drilled another. Logan Village finished the competition first on the ladder, dropping just two games all year.
Witchez
The Apprentice Witchez defeated Logan Metro in the semi-finals, putting them straight into September 10’s grand final.
The semi was a nail biting affair, with the Witchez up 3 -2 in the 89th minute.
Metro sent a huge through ball, breaking the defence to equal the score 3-3 at the full-time whistle.
In the resulting penalty shootout, Shae Doyle, Jasmin Rae and Natalie Starkey all tucked away their penalty shots nicely.
Witchez keeper Cassie Skinner, meanwhile, was simply amazing, saving three shots from the opposition and sealing the win.
