THE week started with further aerial power line stringing work along Camp Cable Road by skilled helicopter pilot John Caldwell.
Mr Caldwell is the owner of Leading Edge Helicopters which is based at Redcliffe Airport.
He has been doing the precision flying work for over 11 years.
“Using a helicopter to string power lines reduces the environmental impact of the construction as the line can be strung over sensitive areas, without actually cutting into the earth or through the vegetation,” he said.
Mr Caldwell said aerial helicopter stringing had become one of the most time-efficient and cost-effective methods used to string conductors onto transmission towers and poles, and was used all over the world.
“We have done aerial helicopter stringing all over Australia, except for the Northern Territory,” he said.
This job along Camp Cable Road is also not his first operation in the area, having done the stringing of the transmission line from Greenbank to the Gold Coast over Mount Tamborine in 2006.
