Park Ridge Active Riding Group celebrated its 35th birthday on Friday at the Coffee Club Jimboomba with a trivia night and celebration of the club’s history.
Among those in attendance were life members and members who’ve notched up milestones of 10, 15 and 20 years with the club.
PRARG’s history goes back to its beggining at the Park Ridge Pony Club grounds and began with adults wanting activities away from the children, hence the ‘Adult’ part of the name before eventually changing the name to ‘Active’ in place of adult.
When PRARG started it was primarily fortnightly training sessions on Saturday’s at McDonald’s arena, before moving to ribbon days.
Over the years the club progressed, moving from using the Park Ridge Pony Club grounds to Skerman Park where today PRARG have created a purpose built dressage club recognised nationally by winning EA Club of the year in 2013.
Through its 35 years the club has tried to maintain a balance between those competing at all levels to those who want to compete at all levels and those wanting to take part in ribbon and fun days.
The trivia night and birthday bash was organised by several committee members, namely Lorraine Edwards, Leanne Smith, Andrea Williams and Chris Tompkins.
PRARG held a Preliminary to Elementary event on Sunday. Maximum competitor numbers saw a crisp early start at 7.30am, finishing at 4pm.
Riders came west from Chincilla, Sunshine Coast and down to the NSW border as well as riders in the Logan and Scenic Rim areas.
The quality of horses was exceptional as expected at an event of its type, which counts as qualifers for State squads, State events and also DQ trophies.
