VERESDALE Scrub boxer Isaac Pilon notched another milestone in his young career when he won gold at the 2016 Youth Australian Boxing Championships recently.
In his biggest fight of the year so far, Pilon, 15, faced New South Wales boxer Jarrod Kosorukow at Paradise Point in the 46kg division.
In a commanding performance, Pilon used his height to dominate the three rounds, with the judges calling the bout for Pilon via unanimous decision.
“I was confident going into the fight and then I managed to put it all together on the night,” he said.

“It was an awesome feeling, to have the whole team there cheering and to walk out into the ring and then have that gold medal around my neck,” he said.
Pilon will now set his sights on a potential training camp in the Phillipines, before the focus will shift towards the state titles in September.
Father Ross Pilon said he was proud of his son and was encouraging Isaac to take a break and relax after an impressive performance in the ring.
“He deserves it, he’s worked extremely hard so now it’s important he enjoys it,” he said.
