Flagstone resident Tina Connolly has been invited to tutor at the Scrapbook and Papercraft Expo to be held in Brisbane next month.
A self-taught mixed medium scrapbooker, Ms Connolly is excited to be representing Colourblast at the expo and after teaching on and off for seven years she has the experience.
“My work is textural, layered and arty, it’s a mixture of things,” she said. “Mine is definitely messy scrapbooking.
“It’s a great event to get inspiration from others and catch up with different people from the scrapbooking community.”
Ms Connolly said papercraft is a great creative outlet for all types of people.
“Plus it’s no biggie if it doesn’t work out,” she said.
There are 16 different tutors at the expo and they will all have papercraft on display, a perfect way to get inspired to create.
“I want to make sure people know the best way to go about crafting,” Ms Connolly said.
“That way they can get value for money out of their products.
“I’d like to teach people how to use different mediums, techniques, layering, creating their own individual titles and of course embossing and stenciling.”
The expo will not only offer classes with accomplished papercraft tutors but access to the latest gadgets and supplies.
Craft consultant Judy Newman said the expo would provide visitors the opportunity to implement the latest papercraft trends, mingle with like-minded paper art enthusiasts and to be inspired by the displays which showcase the beauty of papercraft.
“It’s our intention to bring the best local talent together with the best imports so we can present an exciting program to devotees and inspire and introduce newcomers,” she said.
“Those looking to learn new skills, but aren’t ready to commit to a two-hour class, are welcome to participate in a make and take or educational demonstration, that will be recurring throughout the day at various stands.
“The Scrapbook and Papercraft Expo prides itself on its extensive educational and inspirational offerings and realises that papercraft lovers want more than just a day of retail therapy.”
The expo will be open from June 10 to June 12 at the Brisbane Convention and Exhibition Centre.
Buy tickets online for discounted prices, adults tickets at the door will cost $17.
